Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the nation, with the bulk of that growth occurring in the West. There are currently 45 high school programs in Oregon with several new programs joining every year. There are six high school teams in the Eugene/Springfield area that include all the 4J schools, Thurston, and Marist.
For the 2018 season, Eugene youth lacrosse will be a part of Eugene-Springfield Metro Lacrosse League. Eugene teams will play home and away games on Saturdays and some Sundays against teams from Springfield, Roseburg, Bend, Corvallis and Salem.
It's important to sign up early to ensure your son is able to play on the team from his residence area. Every effort will be made to try to place Eugene area players on teams based on the area in which they live. Teams will have approximately 20 players.
Typically there are two practices each week with one game on the weekend. Each team will practice during the week in the area they are associated. Each team will play a minimum of eight games.
There are three age groupings for boys lacrosse: 3rd-4th grade, 5th-6th grade, and 7th-8th grade in which teams will be formed.
