Coaches Guide

Tournament Rule Modifications

Regular KIDSPORTS rule modifications will be in use for all tournament matches except as outlined below.

Grades 3-5      The winner of all Tournament matches will be determined by the best two out of three games.  The first two games will be played to 15 points, and the third game if necessary will be played to 8 points.  Only in a required third game will a two-point margin be necessary for victory.  NO time limits will be applied.

Grades 6-8      The winner of all Tournament matches will be determined by the best two out of three games.  All three games will be played to 15 points (except AAAA plays to 25), and all three games will require a two-point margin for victory.  NO time limits will be applied.

Pre-Game Warm-up

We ask that all teams be ready to take the court for warm-ups immediately following completion of the preceding game.  Warm-up time will be limited to six minutes if the previous game extends into your starting time.  Teams must provide their own balls for warm-up.

Officials and Game Equipment

Home teams (determined each match by a coin flip) will provide the official game ball.  Coaches must be prepared to provide a linesperson and a scorekeeper for each match.  Line up cards will be available at the tournament site; ask the gym supervisor for assistance.

Awards

In the 3rd and 4th grade every participant will receive either individual medals or ribbons based on team results.   For 5th thru 8th grade, Champion and 2nd place teams will receive individual gold and silver medals and team plaques while Consolation Champions and 3rd place winners will receive a team plaque.

Equipment Return

When your season is over, KIDSPORTS staff will be available for equipment return.  Returning your equipment at this time will save you a trip to the office later.
