6TH-8TH GRADE

I. The Match

A regular season match will consist of the best 2 out of 3 games. THE TOTAL MATCH WILL HAVE A 45-MINUTE TIME LIMIT.

II. Scoring

Rally scoring will be used in grades 6th through 8th (the first two games to 25 points and if necessary, the third game is played to 15 points). All games require a two point margin for victory.

III. Time Outs

Time Outs (2 per game) shall not exceed 30 seconds and are not allowed during the last two minutes of a time limit.

IV. The Server

The server is a designated back row player and cannot come to the net to attack the ball. Under rally scoring, a let serve is legal and the ball is in play.

V. The Court

A full size court 30' X 30' for each half will be utilized.

V. The Serving Line

The serving line will be at 28 feet from the center line.

VII. Net

Net height will be 7' 4 1/8'’.

VIII. Ball

6th grade will use a special light weight ball provided by KIDSPORTS.

7th and 8th grades will use a regulation ball.

IX. Team Composition

A team shall consist of six (6) players on the court at one time. At least four players must be present to start a game. If a player shows up after a game has begun, he/she should be inserted into the game at an appropriate time.

X. Playing Requirements

All Players on the team roster must be listed on the line-up card. Each player present must start and play in either the first or second game entirely. In games 2&3, players who have played their required entire game may substitute for each other using normal high school rules. There will be no "libero" position.

If a team has more than 12 players, the above rule is impossible to follow and any additional players must play at least 1/2 of one game. This substitution shall occur when either team reaches 7 points. Any player only playing 1/2 of a game during a match must start and play the entire first game of the next scheduled match.

Failure to paly players the required amount shall result in a forfeit of the match.
