GENERAL OVERVIEW K-3rd Grade Rec Soccer (4th-12th Klassic Soccer here)
The KIDSPORTS recreation soccer league is an opportunity for children and youth to participate in soccer at a non-competitive level with an emphasis on development. It is established to increase the skills and techniques of soccer players from kindergarten to eighth grade.
In 1996, KIDSPORTS made some major changes in its recreational league in response to new mandates by the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA). They recommended that youth soccer programs play with smaller sized teams that enhance learning soccer techniques and tactics and creates a more exciting game. The small-sided game allows players more touches with the ball and establishes a faster more challenging style of soccer. The KIDSPORTS Soccer Advisory Committee has carefully monitored and examined the results of its change to small sided soccer and believes it has been an unqualified success.
The KIDSPORTS recreational program consists of:
K and 1st Grade - 3 V 3 MICRO-SOCCER
K through 1st grade will play micro-soccer with 3 players versus 3 players. Teams will have rosters of 8-12 players and play two (2) simultaneous 3 v 3 games with players rotating between the two fields. The fields will be 30 yds by 40 yds. Games are to be fun and non-competitive. Scores will not be kept and parents will officiate. There will be no goalies used in the game and periods will consist of 6 five-minute periods.
2nd-3rd Grade - 6 V 6
2nd-3rd grade soccer teams will have rosters of 8-12 players and they will play six (6) players on each side. The field will be a little larger and there will be goalies allowed.
GENERAL OVERVIEW Klassic Soccer
The KIDSPORTS Klassic Soccer program was established in 1991 to provide an opportunity for local soccer players to play at the highest level. KIDSPORTS Klassic Soccer offers a competitive fall and spring league open to local and out of town teams. U12 and U14 leagues for boys and girls grades 5-8 are offered in the fall and U12, U14, and U18 leagues are also offered in the Spring. Emerald, Cascade, and Valley Divisions will be created in each age group whenever possible for the purpose of grouping teams of comparable skill and experience.
Teams register with KIDSPORTS to play a league season by submitting a team roster and paying a team fee. While teams are free to organize as they wish and select the players of their choice, all teams that register for KIDSPORTS KLASSIC Soccer and their rostered players and coaches are expected to follow KIDSPORTS rules, regulations and policies.
Players in grades 5-8 who do not make club teams and still want to participate, every effort will be made to form a unified team (KS Utd.) that will play in the KLASSIC league if enrollment allows. Registration is not guaranteed for these unified teams.
KIDSPORTS requires that all local teams be formed according to high school area, though out-of-district teams may be formed from more than one high school area. KIDSPORTS will recognize and register any eligible team from a high school area, while at the same time encouraging a coordinated and cooperative team formation process in each area. KIDSPORTS does encourage the formation of more than one team per area in an age group wherever there is an interest.
All participants will be registered with the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) through the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA). KIDSPORTS will act as the registering club for all Klassic teams not associated with a club recognized by OYSA.
FIFA Laws of the Game apply to all KIDSPORTS Klassic Soccer games. Any rules modifications will be specified in the coaches handbook distributed to every coach prior to the season.
